Planning approval has been granted to transform six acres of land into a £15 million housing development in Morley by Leeds City Council.
Weavers Chase consisting of 61 houses, will be built by developer Redrow Homes on a plot of land just off Albert Road. Initial permission was granted in September; this was objected to by Morley councillors as they believed the development had a lack of affordable houses, and the possibility of losing a big amount of green space land.
A revised plan has since been approved, including a £1.5 million deal with the developers for community improvements, as well as 15% of the development providing high quality, affordable housing. The £1.5 million secured from the developer will help the community, ensuring that issues around stress on the local services, including schools and health centres will be addressed, supporting projects to include road safety improvements.
Just six miles away from the city centre of Leeds, close to excellent schools and superb leisure facilities, this new development is sure to attract young families and commuters, who can get a train from Morley station into the city in only 12 minutes, into the area.
