Get on board the new water taxi service in Manchester!

Waxi hit our waterway last Monday, ferrying passengers from Dukes 92 in Castlefield to the Intu Trafford Centre. This specialist water taxi service now connects Manchester City Centre with Sale and Old Trafford along the Bridgewater Canal.

The route along the water to the Intu centre will be a great hit with the kids this Christmas as it drops them off to visit Santa’s Grotto. Operating in the morning and evenings on weekdays, Waxi’s fleet of two boats can ferry 17 passengers between them, both boats will offer free Wi-Fi, refreshments and be fitted with charge points and televisions.

The company was founded back in 2009 by the entrepreneur Steven Cadwell, he comments; “It’s taken a long time and a lot of hard work to get to this point, but we are very excited about Waxi’s services finally launching” Steve is hoping that the service will appeal to people who want a different option for travelling to work, hitting the shops or to watch the football!

Our roadways across the UK are getting more congested, there needs to be other options of public transport available to people, the Waxi team are hoping to add to their two boat fleet next year as the business develops. The 4-mile journey along the water will take an hour, what better way to get ready for a day at work.
