Do you dream of living in Harrogate?

Buying a property in Harrogate and its stunning surrounding villages costs a lot. Have you ever wondered just how much you would need to earn an hour to buy property in this affluent area? Online retailer Web Blinds has created a calculator tool, that instantly compares the average house price in a postcode with the hourly wage one person would need, to be able to buy a property in that area.

The most expensive area for Harrogate is HG3, which does include wealthy villages on the outskirts of Harrogate.

You'll need to earn an hourly wage of £26.31 to get on the property ladder here. Living in the suburbs of Harrogate comes with a premium, with an hourly wage of £24.83 allowing you to buy in popular areas such as Hornbeam Park, which has train links to Leeds and York. The town centre of Harrogate is cheaper, with buyers needing an hourly wage of £19.14 to purchase a property within the HG1 postcode. Picturesque Knaresborough commands a high price, you’ll need am hourly pay packet of over £18 to buy a property in the cathedral city.

here’s a quick breakdown;

  • HG3 - Pannal, Killinghall, Spofforth, Bishop Monkton, Glasshouses, Follifoot, Pateley Bridge - £26.31
  • HG2 - Oatlands, Woodlands, Hookstone, Rossett, Pannal Ash, Harlow Hill, Hornbeam Park - £24.83
  • HG5 - Knareborough, Scotton - £23.54
